Dr. Grant Wenaus is a vocal coach, conductor and pianist in New York City, working in the Musical Theatre programs at New York University, The Manhattan School of Music and Montclair State University in New Jersey. Beginning as an accompanist for the Regina Lyric Light Opera Society, Regina Summer Stage and the Globe Theatre, he has gone on to perform with Broadway artists such as Brooks Ashmanskas, Victoria Clark, Danny Burstein, Laura Osnes, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Rebecca Luker, Brian D’Arcy James, Kate Baldwin, Santino Fontana, Adriane Lenox, Karen Ziemba, Gavin Creel, Carolee Carmello, and the late Marni Nixon. In New York City he has performed at Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, The Public Theatre, Joe’s Pub and The Metropolitan Room, premiering works by many Broadway composers including Jason Robert Brown, Pasek & Paul, Andrew Lippa and John Kander. He was a music director at the University of Michigan Musical Theatre program and NYU, conducting such works as The Light in the Piazza, Ragtime, City of Angels, Floyd Collins, A Little Night Music, Of Thee I Sing, Anything Goes, The Boys from Syracuse, and Street Scene. He has presented musical theatre masterclasses at Yale, Cambridge and Hartford Universities, as well as being on faculty at summer festivals including the Interlochen Center for the Arts, The UpNorth Vocal Institute, and NYU’s summer abroad in Florence, Italy. He is the principle vocal coach for The Glimmerglass Festival, working on musicals such as Kiss Me Kate, The Music Man, Camelot, Carousel, Oklahoma, Sweeney Todd, West Side Story and Show Boat.
